Privacy statement
KeSong Chinese collects as little personal data as possible: only what you choose to send to arrange lessons. This statement explains what that is, why it is used and what your rights are.

Who is responsible
KeSong Chinese (可颂中文) is the independent language studio of Zoey (Ziqiao Zang), based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Zoey is responsible for the processing of your personal data described here. Questions or requests: cosongmandarin@gmail.com.
What data is collected, and why
Enquiry form. When you send an enquiry you share your name, email address, the course you are interested in, your preferred format, your level and, if you wish, your goals and preferred times. This is used only to reply to you and to plan lessons. The legal basis is your consent, which you give with the checkbox in the form, and, once you take lessons, the agreement between you and KeSong.
Email and WhatsApp. If you contact Zoey directly, your message and contact details are used in the same way: to answer you and arrange lessons.
Learners. If you take lessons, Zoey keeps the information needed to teach you: your level, your goals, lesson notes and homework feedback, and the details needed for invoicing.
Your data is never sold, never used for advertising and never shared with third parties except the services needed to run the studio, such as the email provider and, for online lessons, the video-conferencing platform (Zoom).
How long data is kept
Enquiries that do not lead to lessons are deleted once they no longer serve a purpose. Learner data is kept while you take lessons and afterwards only as long as needed, for example for the legal retention period of invoices.
Cookies, statistics and embedded videos
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. YouTube videos on the site are shown as a still image first; the video is only loaded from YouTube (via youtube-nocookie.com) when you press play. From that moment YouTube’s own privacy policy applies. The pronunciation buttons use your browser’s built-in speech function; nothing is sent to KeSong.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, in Dutch AVG) you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability and to withdraw your consent at any time. Send your request to cosongmandarin@gmail.com; you will receive an answer within one month.
If you believe your data is not handled correctly, you can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
This statement may be updated when the way the website or the studio works changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
